Having been an important part of Hythe life until it was demolished in 1968 for road widening, the Institute has been remembered through the foundation stone located on the north side of Prospect Road adjacent to Grove House.
Since its installation, the lettering had deteriorated and the plaque tarnished so, working with The Institute Trustees, the Society organised the cleaning and re-cutting of the stone and the addition of a new plaque. It will now provide a lasting reminder of a once-important institution for generations to come.
