District Council Consultation on Its New Corporate Plan

Residents of Folkestone and Hythe DC (FHDC) are urged to give views on how the FHDC should work to shape the future of the district.  A draft "Corporate Plan" for 2025 to 2030 was published  on 25 July for residents, businesses and organisations to share their thoughts with the council by 27 September 2024.

The Plan is based around five priorities of:

  • A well run, transparent and listening council that works closely with its partners;

  • Improving people's health, wellbeing and sense of community;

  • Building new homes and improving the quality of existing homes;

  • Growing the economy in a sustainable way and creating opportunities for all; and

  • Addressing climate change and enhancing the natural environment and local character.

It is recommended that to obtain a greater understanding of this consultation more information about the draft plan can be found on the council website at https://www.folkestone-hythe.gov.uk/policies-plans-documents/corporate-plan where there is an online survey to complete.  This online survey can be found at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/FHDCFuture

The draft plan and survey are also available as a printed booklet and can be obtained by contacting the council on 01303 853000 during business hours.  In addition, the council is also consulting with focus groups, young people and carrying out a door-to-door survey.

Council Leader, Cllr Jim Martin, said: “We want to hear from as many of our residents and businesses as possible.

The Corporate Plan looks to the future and defines the direction we should be taking, all while continuing to deliver essential day-to-day services and working within our means and ensuring we protect and enhance our beautiful district.  It’s important to know whether our residents and businesses believe we are taking the right direction or whether we need to make changes.”

The draft plan will be revised following feedback and a final version put before councillors in early 2025.
