Earlier this year, the Society, in partnership with Hythe Town Council, produced a set of walking guides with accompanying maps designed to showcase Hythe and its history, while enjoying the great outdoors.
The Countryside Walks were launched on the website in May and have been a resounding success, with many would-be walkers downloading the maps and directions onto their phones or as a hard copy.
The Society, and the Past Mayor of Hythe, Anita Jones, plan to celebrate this success by walking one of the routes. We shall be accompanied by members of the Elham Valley Walkers group whose series of walks inspired us to have our own.
The walk, taking in the Royal Military Canal, Lympne Castle, Pedlinge and returning to Hythe, will take place on Tuesday, 10th September starting at 10am in Portland Road car park. Map attached. Distance 6.8 miles, duration 4.5 hours, difficulty moderate.
